STARLINER MAY 2002
Taylor Cattle Company owns and operates the Encino Arena Ranch in Yorktown, Texas. The Ranch gets its name from its sandy bottom and majestic oaks. The Taylors have been raising registered Texas Longhorns since 1981. The purchase of a Purina Feed Dealership in 1980 naturally led the Taylors into the cattle business. The original herd was purchased from Walter Scott of Goliad, Texas. Since then, additional cattle have been purchased from well known breeders which has greatly improved the quality of the herd. The Taylors grade their cattle in five categories:
The Taylor herd is unique because of its color variations. Quality black and white animals are rare and they often top the market in the sales ring. Due to both past and recent herd sire selections, black and white animals are common in the Taylor herd. |
